weekending:

so between my last blog post & today, i had the flu. it was just as terrible as you might imagine, but it's gone now & i feel like myself again. that was fun (said no one, ever) 

i've come out of that flu with a rare energy surge, the kind that has you looking around your house thinking "eww, we needs a deep clean up in here" and you actually have the motivation to get up and get it done.

because i have a tendency to get myself into a bigger mess by diving in, i began slowly. hot water in a bucket mixed with cleaner & a washcloth. i wiped down all of the doorway and wall mouldings (major dustage!). i prepped a garbage bag and filled it up with stuff that i didn't need anymore. the rest of the Christmas decorations came down & were put away. the whole house got vacuumed. -and you know what? the house is still a mess. 

baby steps. i'll get there.

i feel like such a loser sharing that the highlight of my weekend was changing out of my jammies and dressing myself up to go out for coffee with Eileen. i hadn't seen her for over a week and wow, she looks amazing. she got her hair cut and (i'm so proud of her) she is 17 days with no smoking! we caught up over double shot cappuccinos and some shopping. the girl is such an extrovert and talks to anyone and everyone, which makes things interesting when we go out.

she's loud, she talks with her hands, and she has the most inviting smile. she is my complete opposite & i think that's why it works with us. that and i love her dearly.

there is something about being really sick that makes me want to deep clean once i'm on the other side of sick. so i get that. and i also get just how momentous it can be to leave the pjs and get dressed ;-)
